Our regular events are designed and led by people living with dementia in Nottingham.
Our 2023 event:
Reflecting on Living with Dementia: Don't Dismiss Us
Thursday 28th September 2023
Registration 10am, event starts at 10:30am, ends at 3:30pm
The Church of The Good Shepherd,
3 Thackeray's Ln,
Nottingham NG5 4HT
Accessible by bus:
It is easy to get to by bus. If you take buses 56, 57, and 59 from city centre, you could get off at Calstock Road bus stop which is a one-minute walk from the church.
If you are coming from Carlton, you are welcome to take bus number 25 and get off at Knighton Road bus stop. This is again one-minute walk from the church.
This event is free but we are asking for a donation towards lunch on the day.
We will be joined by members of our craft group, started during the pandemic as well as people from our independent peer support groups: craft, drop-in and walking groups. They will demonstrate some of the regular activities we enjoy and offer you an opportunity to try yourself.
We will share the results of recent research involving people affected by dementia.
Our project – Dementia Notes from Notts, involves people thinking about their experiences living with dementia in Nottingham and creating useful resources to share with others.
Our project - Dementia drop-in is a monthly city centre drop-in group where people have conversations over lunch to share experiences. It is on Third Wednesday of each month.
Our project - Dementia Health Walks: monthly relaxed strolls in Stonebridge City Farm and around the lake in Highfields Park on first and second Thursday of each month and enjoying conversations after lunch in a the cafe.
Friends for Life - an independent peer support group that we helped establish and is now run by volunteer facilitators with a broad membership.
A light lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Unfortunately, we cannot cater for all allergies.
If you have a special diet, you are welcome to bring your own lunch.
Please let us know if you are no longer able to attend, as places are limited. Thank you.

It was prepared by Dr Jane Rowley, the Project Manager.
Photos from past events
Here are a few pictures from our first ‘What Matters to Me – Life with Dementia' event held at Nottingham Racecourse in 2018. George Rook, one of our core advisory group who planned and led the day, is conspicuously absent because alongside leading and presenting he also found time to take all these photos.
This is a gallery of photos where the next photo will show after a few seconds, or you can use the arrows at the side of the photos to go to the next or previous one. You can see a larger version of the photo by clicking or pressing on it.
