We take a short stroll at a gentle pace, for around an hour. After the walk, we have some refreshments at the café and for anyone interested we talk about and swap books.

You can walk at your own pace, join our friendly group, make new friends, and have some fun conversations, and even take some pictures if you are a bird watcher or a nature lover.

The walks are easily accessible by public transport, we can provide directions.

Craft Group

The owl Janette made

We started in April 2020 to do some craft activities first in our Coffee & Chat group, by making some cards from home in our online group. Gradually, the members’ interest increased and due to popular demand, we started Wednesday craft evenings from July 2020.

We did a variety of crafts, like diamond painting, silk painting, felting, paper flowers, made houses of clay, made light houses and painted some beautiful wooden birds. We develop instructions for every craft activity, so people living with dementia and their families can continue the project at home or follow in the group. Until now, March 2021, we have posted over 424 free activity packs to people living with dementia and their families in the East Midlands.

People report the dementia groups are their lifeline. A few of the members have said, “We wouldn’t survive without these meetings.” People living with dementia and their families said to us that the craft evenings on Zoom help with their moods and doing chores around the house.

Your £10 donation can buy an activity pack for a person living with dementia or a carer!

Please contact us for the Zoom link or phone number to connect to the meeting. You don’t need to have a computer to attend this meeting. Email [email protected] or call 0115 74 84220 and leave your name and number. This is a free service.
